The brain is arguably the most complex and fascinating biological system. Understanding how brain circuits function to allow sensory perception, learning and memory, decision making and ultimately behavior is a fundamental goal of neuroscience. Recent technological developments have led to dramatic advances in our ability to record, visualize and interpret the activity of brain circuits and their output. This joint symposium will highlight some of the groundbreaking work performed at the RIKEN Brain Science Institute in Tokyo and at the Weizmann Institute.
