Career Center

We look for a postdoc  to work on intramolecular distributions of heavy isotopes - isotopomers - for estimating biogeochemical fluxes on century timescales, a key unknown in Earth System Models. Quantification of deuterium and 13C isotopomers by dedicated NMR methods is a central part of the project (PNAS 2015, .

A 24-month post-doctoral position is opened in the framework of a collaborative project between TOTAL/HUTCHINSON and CNRS (ICMPE, East Paris Institute of Chemistry and Materials Science, UMR 7182 CNRS / University Paris-East, Thiais, France). The post-doctoral researcher will develop his / her research activities at the Hutchinson Research Center (Châlette-sur-Loing, France) and at ICMPE (Thiais), in the Department "Complex Polymer Systems". He / she will be co-supervised by Brice Gabrielle (Hutchinson) and Cédric Lorthioir (ICMPE). Hutchinson is a world leader in rubber processing.

A PhD position is available in the group of Andrew Pell at the Department of Materials Environmental and Environmental Chemistry (MMK), Stockholm University (Sweden), in solid-state NMR of paramagnetic materials.

Closing date: May 2, 2017.

Project description

There is an opportunity for a talented NMR spectroscopist to join the NMR group in the Structural Biology Department, to explore the structure and function of proteins of therapeutic interest. The successful candidate will be responsible for applying NMR-based strategies to support small molecule and large molecule drug discovery programs.

A two-year post-doctoral position in liquid-state NMR methodology is available in the group of Patrick Giraudeau at the University of Nantes, France, starting preferably in September 2017. It will involve a close collaboration with the group of Sami Jannin in Lyon, France, with frequent travel to Lyon for DNP experiments.

Bridge12 is hiring and there are currently two open position in the area of magnetic resonance (EPR/NMR/DNP):

1) Scientist - Magnetic Resonance:

A PhD position is available in the group of Andrew Pell at the Department of Materials Environmental and Environmental Chemistry (MMK), Stockholm University (Sweden), on paramagnetic solid-state NMR spectroscopy.

Closing date: May 2, 2017.

Project description

A three-year PhD studentship is available to study the dynamics of proteins by solution-state NMR spectroscopy. A major component of the research will be based around the development of new NMR-based methods with applications to histone deacetylases and the von Willebrand Factor.

The studentship will be based at the Institute of Structural and Molecular Biology, University College London (UCL), where excellent facilities are available to support the project, including access to state-of-the-art NMR spectrometers ranging from 500 MHz to 950 MHz.

The group of Björn Burmann at the Department of Chemistry and Molecular Biology of the University of Gothenburg, Sweden, is recruiting two PhD-students for studying large protein complexes by solution NMR-spectroscopy. The Department and the Swedish NMR Centre offers an international and enthusiastic working environment with excellent infrastructure for studies in all areas of life science.

Applications are invited for a Scientific Officer in NMR Metabolomics in the NMR Facility within the Faculty of Life Sciences and Medicine at King’s College London.
The NMR Facility forms part of the Centre for Biomolecular Spectroscopy and following a £3M award from the Wellcome Trust, British Heart Foundation and King’s College London, we are establishing a state-of-the-art facility to conduct research in a number of metabolic profiling areas.

Two NIH funded postdoctoral positions are available in the group of Prof. Nate Traaseth in the Department of Chemistry at New York University. The laboratory is located in the heart of Manhattan (Greenwich Village) within New York City. Research projects aim to establish structure-function relationships for membrane transport proteins involved in drug resistance and receptor tyrosine kinases involved in human growth development through the use of solution and solid-state NMR spectroscopy.

PhD place available for 18th September 2017 start, fully funded for UK and EU citizens.
Application Deadline 26th March 2017
