The Organic Synthesis Unit carries out, upon request, the synthesis and characterization of a wide variety of organic molecules that are not commercially available and are used by Weizmann scientists in their research projects. The unit can provide chemicals in quantities that range from small to medium scale (milligrams to grams). The work is performed in a fully equipped organic synthesis lab and uses the services provided by other units (e.g., NMR, ESR, MS, and elemental analysis) to characterize the intermediate and final products. The staff also provides consultation regarding experimental procedures and techniques. Our services are open to all the research groups at the Weizmann Institute.
