A meeting is scheduled with the head of the unit and the synthesis is discussed. After a thorough literature search, the head of the unit explores the feasibility of the synthesis and determines the synthetic pathway. An estimate of the cost and delivery time is then presented to the scientist. The unit commences the synthesis following approval from the scientist.
Orders are placed through Internal Services as WIS. A detailed explanation is provided at the time of placing the order.
In the case of students with enough synthetic background who wish to carry out the synthesis in their own labs, the Organic Synthesis Unit provides consultation to help them find a viable synthetic pathway for the target molecule. It also provides advice regarding the experimental setups and procedures used.
